Dick Parks' Novelty Five

This highly visual good-time band, made up of musicians from the now defunct Sunshine Skiffle Band, specializes in silly, off-beat, satirical, and just plain funny songs from the American Popular Song
inventory, ranging the 1920s to the 1950s. Most members play two or more instruments, which provides great variety in the sound, and gives the band the flexibility to play dixieland, swing, and even old cowboy tunes. The multi-instrumental talents of the members enable the band to play for dancing after the show.  Whether your engagement is a concert, convention or corporate event, picnic, dance, or house party, the Novelty Five guarantees an entertaining, rollicking fun time.

Basic instrumentation: (Parentheses show what instrument would be played for dancing)
cornet-valve trombone-vocals-(trumpet)
clarinet-soprano sax-vocals-(tenor sax)
banjo-guitar-(piano)
washboard-vocals-(drums)
Washtub bass, or upright bass
Whenever possible one or more of the following are added:
clarinet-tenor sax-jug-vocals
2nd banjo-(guitar)

The band plays many of the Dixieland and sing-along standards that are found in the Sheiks of Dixie list, but the following is its special repertoire.
