Relation to the fake books  This book contains mainly tunes found in 3 fake books: Dixieland vols. 1 & 2, and "20s-30s Fake Book", but there is no direct relationship between them. The fake book series began 5 years later; I did them from scratch using the best sources I had, and I have continually upgraded them as I acquired better sources. For practical purposes, this book still works well and you won't go wrong if you use it--minor chord differences go by fast, and the audience usually won't notice. The most notable difference is that I usually included the verses in the fake books and not here. Conversely, there are tunes here that won't be in any fake books--they're usually the "banjo band" favorites. There will be a 2nd volume, Supertrad (Dcup II), with ca. 400 more tunes.
